3 Tips for Finding a Good Air Spring Installer

You’ve purchased Air Lift air springs… Now what?
While we do design our air spring systems to be easily installed at home, we know that DIY isn’t everyones style.
If you can’t (or just don’t want to) install your air springs yourself, the next step would be to find someone to do it for you.
Your truck is part of your family, so treat the process of finding an installer with the same seriousness of finding a surgeon for your own child. That might sound melodramatic, but when you think about it, you’re getting a product installed on your vehicle. A correct installation will save the day, but an incorrect installation…? Taking the process seriously will only benefit you, and rushing the decision could cost you a lot of valuable time and money.
Here’s a quick guide to finding a competent, trustworthy installer:
1) Do your research.
Luckily for you, we’re living in the age of information, which means there is a wealth of ratings, reviews, and recommendations on the Internet. Take some time to find mechanics in your area and read everything you can find about each one. As you read reviews, however, remember they are entirely subjective.
People often only write reviews when they have remarkably good or dramatically horrible experiences, and almost nothing in between.
That said, they are a good resource—just be sure to take it all with a grain of salt.
In addition to reading personal reviews, look closely for licensing and certifications – a good shop works hard for accreditation from reputable sources, so they’ll show off their recognitions whenever they can. Specifically, search mechanics’ web pages for their state licensing, as well as certifications from groups like the American Automobile Association (AAA) or the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
2) Ask around.
Once you’ve read up on the highest-reviewed, most accredited mechanics in the area, get in touch with the people you trust the most – your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. Ask them where they go to service their cars, ask them where they don’t go, and ask them what they’ve heard about different places.
Get recommendations and take notes. Write down what people paid for different services to their cars, and compare across different mechanics.
On top of that, be sure and visit some garages. Ask to about warranties, talk to owners about their licenses, equipment, and get quotes. Once you settle on the right mechanic for the job, ask exactly what will be done, how long it will take, and a good estimate of the cost.
(And remember to ask for your old parts back once the work is completed, so you know they replaced what you asked!)
3) Listen carefully.
This might seem obvious, but it’s important – Be sure to listen to every mechanic’s responses to your questions.
Vague, indefinite responses are a red flag. You need an expert, professional, and trustworthy person to operate on your car, and honest experts will always give you a straightforward answer. You want good communication and thorough explanations.
